Yep, that's what my Dad always called the TV, the idiot box. And rightly so! By and large, I hate television. It serves as mindless entertainment - it does all the thinking for you. At least video games make you think a little, sometimes.

I hate sit-coms - sarcastic, slap-stick humor does not appeal to me.

The news generaly focuses only on the bad things, cuz people have a morbid interest in such things, we can't help ourselves. It's like when you drive by a wreck on the highway... you don't really want to see a bloody corpse... but we look anyways... I suppose that's also why shows like CSI and other such gory programs that fight each other for the highest shock value are so popular. People don't seem to even realise how graphic these shows are... Now, to see things like that, it's normal. Anything "less" is boring. Sad, really.

However, there have been a few shows and movies made that even I liked! Most of them are older, it's true... even commercials have gotten so full of casual sex and violence lately, that the only reason I own a TV at all now is just to play a few games with. My tastes basicaly run along the lines of sci-fi, or other action type shows. I've long since come to terms with the fact that I'm a geek, nerd, whatever.

And here they are, in no particular order:

Knight Rider (Kitt rules)

Scarecrow & Mrs. King

Star Trek (all of them, series and movies, though Deep Space 9 was too political to be interesting usualy and I've boycotted the last movie cuz I am told they killed Data. AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!)

Doctor Who

The Fugitive (movie)

Star Wars (haven't seen the new ones yet, I'm waiting til they are all 3 out on DVD and I'm gonna have a marathon!)

Battlestar Gallactica (I am actualy considering getting cable, just to see the new series)

Harry Potter (movies, all of them, though they left so much outta #3 that it makes little sence to anyone who hasn't read the book)

Spider Man & X-Men

Bruce Almighty (not normaly a Jim Carry fan, but that was a funny movie lol)

Star Gate (another reason to maybe get cable...)

Most of the Disney movies, though I wish they would keep the historical tales more accurate, since TV seems to be the only way kids learn any more...

Lots of others that I can't think of right now, but I think you get the general idea.
